This is a Devotional!That fact is not clear in the promotion (and one reason I took one star off). However, once I worked out that this was in fact a book intended for daily devotional reading, I have come to appreciate the rich daily extracts from the writings of Ellen White. That most readings are single, un-ellipsed extracts from her major books or periodical articles adds to the smoothness and integrity of the messages and delivers both familiar words and surprises. The daily messages have been well chosen and are uniformly pointed and uplifting.
Topics are arranged by month:
January - Communing with God
Feb - The Blessings of Obedience
Mar - Investing Time and Other Talents
April - Exploring God's Word
May - The Day that God Made Holy
June - Doing the Kings Business
July - Practicing the End-time Lifestyle
Aug - Relating to the Natural World
Sep - Sharing the Good News
Oct - Enjoying Good Health
Nob (sic) - Worshiping at Home
Dec - Repenting, Then Growing
These topics do point the reader to Jesus.
I have enjoyed portions from a few months on topics I searched for on my Kindle. Now I'm making my way through the book chronologically, with enjoyment.
Is it making me more "like Jesus"? I hope to think it has. I've certainly been inspired to become more like Him.
There are several disappointments besides not being warned that isn't a book of Ellen White's that I haven't read, (hence only 4 stars):
- It isn't formatted like a devotional, it is more like 365 short chapters with no dates to navigate by.
- The Table of Contents has nearly 400 entries, rendering it almost useless. It would have been better to just have month-headings in the table.
The formatting is not all bad, I really like the un-abbreviated source appended to the end of each reading rather than obscurely footnoted. Page formatting is good, even the page number is there (as in most White Estate Kindle books) but very unobtrusively, quietly after the source information.
All up, if you are an EGW fan and want something short and sweet to attract you to Jesus each day, then you will enjoy this book.

Excellent book for the Bible student
I have been so blessed and encouraged in my walk wth Christ. I highly recommend this devotional to anyone seeking a closer walk with Christ.
I love the daily devotional with a subject theme for each month. It has helped me grow tremendously in my Chistian walk by bringing Christ to me personally!
Excellent book to encourage Christian growth and a greater understand of the love of God. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It's a "devotional" book--in that there are 365 readings, one for each day of the year. I am just finishing it for this year and will be hard-pressed to find another one as enlightening.
